Girona Cathedral
T.A.Q.I.S
3.0
With the support of the Department of Culture.
Grants for the execution of works co-financed in the museum field.
T.A.P.I.S 3.0 is a project that will allow several notable improvements to materialize both for visitors and for the conservation of the pieces of the Treasure Museum of the Cathedral of Girona.
The works focus on the comfort and optimal visitor experience along the route, improving accessibility and presenting the objects in such a way that they can enjoy and learn from the exhibits. Through various information channels and improving the safety of both people and objects, important objectives will be achieved that at the same time reveal the acronym of the name of the project: Work for Accessibility, Presentation, Information and Security of the Treasure of the Cathedral of Girona. The “3.0” refers to the updating of the systems and the environment, as well as remembering that it is the third time that the Tapestry of Creation, the main piece of the collection, changes its location in the museum.
IMPROVEMENTS
MUSEUM
Once you enter the renovated rooms, visitors will travel from the old Romanesque cathedral to the current Gothic cathedral, characterizing each period in two rooms where excellent objects of each moment are exhibited. The large room will be used solely for contemplating the Tapestry of Creation, with an adjoining space to explain the piece. The last room will be closed, dedicated to delving into the liturgical and cultual use of the collection shown.
IMPROVEMENTS
DEPOSIT
It may go unnoticed by the visitor, but one of the great improvements of this project is the creation of some deposit rooms. In these it is planned to organize all those artistic and historical objects linked to the cathedral and that have no place in the museum. Located in the old archive deposit, these three rooms have been adapted to preserve a rich heritage legacy in optimal conditions.
