It is a miniature manuscript (with illustrations) consisting of 284 folios, handwritten in Visigothic lettering. Several characteristics make the Beatus preserved in the Cathedral of Girona extraordinary. First, its antiquity, since it dates from 975. We know this thanks to the fact that the last page records the date, the promoter and the authors. Next, its origin: we know that it comes from the monastery of Tábara (Zamora) and that in the eleventh century it already appears in the Cathedral of Girona. The miniatures are the work of the monk Emeterius and the nun En, considered the oldest documented female artist. His work was not trivial, since this specimen, among the few beatus that have been preserved, is the one that has more illuminations (illustrations), in addition to having some that occupy the two pages, something that does not happen in any other copy either.
