Stabat Mater Festival – Concert at the CHAPEL OF SANTA MARIA DEL PI IN BARCELONA

Musical activity in Santa Maria de Pi began in the mid-15th century. It was one of the leading musical institutions in the city of Barcelona.

It had a strong staff of singers and instrumentalists. Confiscations plunged the Chapel into decline, but it was successful in 1895. Although, later and due to the Civil War of 1936, this flourishing was crushed. It finally re-emerged in 1992 with different formations and directors until the current formation.

In this concert we will be offered works by Joan Ferrer, Pere Riquet, Joan Pujol, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Felip Olivelles, Tomás Milans and Francisco Guerrero.
